Arajet Achieves IATA Membership Certification

Membership strengthens Arajet's Safety, Efficiency, and Connectivity from the Dominican Republic to the Americas

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic —  2026

After 30 years of absence of Dominican airlines from the membership directory of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Arajet announced today that it has received the IATA membership certification of the leading organization for global representation of airlines.

This historic milestone places the Dominican aviation on the global map of the industry and consolidates Arajet's commitment to the highest international standards of operational safety, efficiency, and service quality.

This new achievement strengthens the Dominican airline's role as a connector of the Americas through its hubs in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, which in turn reinforces the Dominican Republic's position as a major player in global tourism.

“Achieving this certification as an IATA member is a strategic step that validates our model and elevates our value proposition for passengers,” stated Víctor Pacheco Méndez, CEO and founder of Arajet, who added that “this boosts our ability to expand interline agreements and optimize processes to offer simpler and more reliable connections at affordable prices.”

IATA represents the vast majority of international air traffic and promotes standardized procedures that improve the customer experience, from ticketing and baggage handling to punctuality and airport service. Arajet's membership facilitates the adoption of industry best practices and technological solutions, aligned with safe, efficient, and sustainable growth.

“For the Dominican Republic, this achievement means greater connectivity, more tourism, and new business and employment opportunities,” added Pacheco. “With Santo Domingo and Punta Cana as interconnection hubs, we will continue to bring the Caribbean closer to North, Central, and South America.”

During the event, Peter Cerda, IATA's Regional Vice President for the Americas stated, “Becoming an IATA member is a milestone that allows airlines to offer more benefits to passengers, especially by increasing connectivity and options through future agreements with member airlines and value chain partners.”

When approached by the press about the impact Arajet's membership for the tourism and aviation industry, Cerda added, “It's no secret that aviation is fundamental to the Caribbean region. In the case of the Dominican Republic, travel and tourism represent almost 10.6% of its total economy and generate nearly

550,000 jobs. It is important that the sector and the Dominican government work together so that aviation becomes an engine of economic growth and social development.”

Arajet announced that in the coming weeks it will share new product and connectivity initiatives that will capitalize on its IATA membership and strengthen its network to and from its focus cities.
